Enation comes to Water Street! Jonathan Jackson of hit TV show Nashville's Band!

Jonathan Jackson & Enation

Enation is an anthemic American rock band from Washington State with a Euro/Rock flare fronted by Jonathan Jackson. Their melodies are relaxed and gentle and their harmonies will really touch your soul. Enation is all about creating a moment that can effect someone, not just playing music. The best art challenges us. It digs for the deeper questions of the heart. Enation view their songs much in those terms––to challenge themselves, and their listeners as well. Enation have also wanted to show that, more than words, ‘Love is an Action’.

Jonathan Jackson is a five time Emmy award winner who is currently starring on ABC’s Nashville where he plays a singer/songwriter trying to make it in Music City. The role is not a far stretch for Jonathan seeing as his band has been featured on numerous TV shows including One Tree Hill and Dog the Bounty Hunter, and has also been ranked at the top of the billboard charts several times.

The Meat Puppets have a new album coming out / are here on 4/6

The Meat Puppets are an American rock band formed in January 1980, in Phoenix, Arizona. The group's original lineup was Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals), his brother Cris Kirkwood (bass guitar), and Derrick Bostrom (drums). Rat Farm is scheduled to release on April 16 via Megaforce Records. Singer and guitarist Curt Kirkwood says that fans can expect to hear “real blown-up folk music,” on this album. He further elaborates on the new material: I tried to write stuff that would stand on its own — just the chords and the melodies, and play it kind of straight…I think that was the guiding boundary that I gave myself. It was one of those things where a lot of times, in the past especially, Cris would go, ‘Well, that’s all there is? Let’s put a prog rock part in the middle.’ But I tried to hold it off as much as I could.

Leading up to the release, the Meat Puppets will be touring in the states from March 28 to April 11. They’ll also make an appearance at SXSW in March and Primavera Festival in May. Getting name-checked as a favorite by Kurt Cobain is quite a nice addition to any band's resume, but the Meat Puppets received perhaps the highest accolade ever by Mr. Cobain: he personally invited Curt and Cris Kirkwood to perform three Puppets classics ("Plateau," "Oh, Me," and "Lake of Fire") on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged taping, which has gone down as arguably the greatest episode ever.

Singer/guitarist Curt Kirkwood has always been the group's primary songwriter. And in addition to appearing on fourteen Puppets studio albums over the years - including such classics as 1984's Meat Puppets II, 1985's Up on the Sun, and 1994's Too High to Die - he has also issued a solo recording (2005's Snow) and collaborated with Nirvana's Krist Novoselic and Sublime's Bud Gaugh in Eyes Adrift (who issued a lone, self-titled album in 2002).

Prep for St. Patty's w/ The Tossers on 3/13!

The Tossers are a Celtic Punk band from Chicago, Illinois. They got their start in the early 1990's in the neighborhoods of Southside Chicago and have since made a name for themselves in the Irish punk world. Touring with bands such as Mastodon, Streetlight Manifesto, and Catch 22, The Tossers caught their biggest break in 2007 when they opened for The Pogues for their St. Patricks day show in New York City. If you love Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys, The Tossers will not disappoint you. From their insane tempos to their authentic Irish punk sound, The Tossers put on a show full of heart, whiskey, and a good times.

"Although their name may be irreverent, their music is not. The heart of their distinct sound is derived through the melding of traditional Irish and Punk Rock roots. Combining folk instrumentation of mandolin, fiddle, tin whistle, and button accordion with amphetamine fueled guitar, bass and drums, the Tossers play with a furious edge that teeters between rage and raucousness."
